I have been experiencing that same problem with my 2009 "certified" used Toyota Rav4. No it doesn't happen every day, but it seems to happen at the wrong times. wscan. When the driver door is opened after the car has been not used for a while (30 minutes or more), you should hear the electric brake assist pump start up to pressurize the assist. If you do not hear this, the brake pedal will be harder to press (stiff). An easy ignition test is to take a spark plug, old one will do, plug it in and lay it on the valve cover. Should make a solid blue spark when cranking. Yes the CPS if it totally fails or becomes disconnected it will not tell the fuel pump to send fuel. The RAV4.1 fuel pump is only engaged when the engine is turning over. Toyota mentioned that the non-start issue could be related to a bad brake switch. If the brake switch goes bad, the vehicle doesn't recognize when you're applying the brake and therefore the ignition won't be activated.The car is a manual diesel 2017 Rav4. Every once in a while it will crank (engine turns over). When it does crank car starts. -Bad battery will typically give you a rapid clicking and never crank. -Bad fuel pump will crank, but wont start. -Bad chip in key. Battery good alternator good both tested. When try to start i can hear clicking sound but it won't start or crank. Starter good. The only way i can start it is when i jump the starter relay it will start. So im cluesless now.Hello, I thought it was the battery as when the car wouldn't turn over it worked with a battery booster but after charging completely and even with a boost it won't start. It makes a clicking/buszzing sound when turning the key. The battery is good on the multimeter. I think it is either the starter relay or the starter motor itself.Hoping someone can point in to the right direction. Last night on my way back, my car over heated. Ran in to traffic jam and car kept over heating. Saw smoke coming out of it, i guess little too late. Turned it off and parked on the curbside. Now the car would not start. Actually it starts for two seconds but then shuts down.The car is a manual diesel 2017 Rav4. Clutch pushed in turning the key will do nothing. Just the sound of a clicking noise and the engine wont turn at all. Only the display of the Toyota touch will go black upon turning the key and then it restarts. After a while, I'll try to start it again, and it will magically turn on. I went into Toyota, and their reaction was they were going to charge me 200 for a diagnostic, specifically to check the battery and engine. Okay, so we left the cabin light on, and it drained the battery - though not completely, but enough that we could not start the engine. We hooked up the jumper cables - and mistakenly had it hooked up reversed. We then corrected that and were able to jumpstart the car. Maybe your new battery was sitting around too long and lost some charge. A volt meter comes in handy. Having a usb charger that has a built in voltmeter gauge will monitor your battery and alternator any time you are driving.2010 RAV4 Won't Start. Just got in my wife's 2010 and ran into the issues. I started it and put it into drive and realized that it was barely running and then it died. I started it a second time, and I can't remember now if it started at all, but it quickly got to a point where it would just turn over and the engine didn't seem to catch at all..
