Check & adjust the float level to factory specs. Engine starts and stalls. Choke not adjusted to specifications. Idle speed setting. Not enough fuel in the carburetor. Carburetor flooding. Adjust the choke vacuum and choke coil to specifications.Chiphead. Typically the fuel level should be at the bottom of the sight plug, even if the clear plugs are used. Ive never seen the sight plugs held in with e-clips so not sure if you have special bowls. If the fuel level is too high in the bowl, the level will be too high in the emulsion passages inside the carb main body.Holley 2280 Adjustment. On my '81 RC, I have a Holley 2280 2bbl. I rebuilt the carburetor last night and have seen a world of difference in it's performance. But now instead of stumbling everytime I hit the throttle, it only stumbles when the engine is warm. I've not done any testing with it, but it's purpose and function is to dampen float movement such as from road vibration and so forth. Many Holley carburetors don't use it and have no problem so it just depends on the application.Primary & secondary fuel bowl (43) & (23) – before installing, make dry float level adjustment. Bowl screw installation (41 & 21) – install gaskets (42 & 22) on screws before installing, then torque evenly in stages to 50 in./lbs.
