Based on Browning's Serial number charts the Light Twelve serial numbers ended in 1955 with L 83000 and in 1956 started with a G prefix with a different SN range. What am I missing?LSB#: 211209GP01. There's a prefix to the serial number consisting of single digit (1958-1967) for the year, and a Z model code.Among the proof marks there is a date code we could use to date your gun, but since 1958 the year has become part of the serial number. The first one or (if post 1967) two digits are the year, followed by a “V”, then the serial number. So if yours reads “7V9” that would be the 9th Magnum manufactured in 1967.
