300 norma vs 338 lapua - The 300 is 10" less wind for a full value 10 mph wind. Drop is a win for the 300 with 129" less drop. The both go subsonic in the 1900 range so thats a wash but even there the 338 only hold about the same 120-150 energy lead all others in the 300 favor. But with that said as a hunting rifle I really like the 338NM.

These two Chamberings are similar in usage. however the Lapua beats out the norma velocity wise. With a 30 inch barrel in both, my findings show a 230gr in a norma improved thrown at about 3075-3150 fps compared the the lapua imp at 3200-3250.The difference is that the 300 win mag will do it with a 180 grn bullet, whereas the 338 lapua will do that with a 250 grain bullet. That weight makes a big difference in ME with the 300 win mag doing 3500 ft-lbs at the muzzle compared to the 338 lapua’s mighty 4832 ft-lbs.
